Amount Of Carbon We Offset In May Topped 4 Million Pounds

Here’s what that amount of carbon emissions equates to, according to the Environmental Protection Agency’s Greenhouse Gas Equivalencies Calculator:

• A year’s worth of driving for 1,517 passenger vehicles (driving 17,420,089 miles)
• A year’s worth of energy use for 810 homes
• The amount of carbon sequestered by 9,168 acres of US forests in a year

The May figure was our second-highest monthly total ever. It more than doubled the 1,703,179 pounds offset during April and trailed only the 5,793,344 pounds offset during November 2019.

Of that November total, the business intelligence and data analytics platform Looker accounted for 4.8 million pounds. The increasing totals of carbon offset during the past three months reflect the growing importance of ecommerce during the COVID-19 pandemic.
