Sustainability Can Be Convenient

It’s not always easy to be environmentally sustainable. Not every deli has recycling bins. It is time-intensive to make organic cleaning products and difficult to calculate your carbon footprint. However, convenience and sustainability don’t need to be at odds. Here are a few companies who are thinking about environmental sustainability for their consumers.

Brit + Co is a media company that blogs about a variety of topics, including how-tos, DIY projects, and products to buy. You can find a bunch of information on how to be more eco-friendly as a consumer. Two of our favorite posts are “How to Spot False Eco-Friendly Labels” and “12 Simple Ways to Live a Greener Lifestyle.” Often these articles link to items you can buy to be greener.

The athletic apparel company Outdoor Voices creates products built for “Doing Things”: leggings, shorts, tops, etc. that allow you to move. Most athletic wear materials are not environmentally friendly. OV has thought about the impact of their clothes and made strides in crafting sustainable apparel. You can purchase clothing made with theirĀ Rec Poly, produced from upcycled postconsumer water bottles.

The rideshare company Lyft recently committed to full carbon neutrality. They created a carbon offset program for the emissions produced by Lyft rides. Transportation accounts for almost 30% of the United States’ carbon footprint. Lyft allows you to conveniently travel while being sustainable.

Putting together convenience and sustainability is what we’re all about. With our API for Renewable Energy Credits and carbon offsets, we help businesses make sustainability more convenient. We do all the work; you get all the convenience. Sometimes being environmentally sustainable actually is easy.
